Our travel agent booked this walking tour of Victoria Falls for us, but it really wasn't necessary to have a guided tour. The area around the falls is perfectly safe, and most hotels are either really close by, or provide a free shuttle bus to take you there.

We were picked up at our hotel by our guide in a small bus. We stopped at another hotel to pick up two more guests and then entered the Victoria Falls park. The park entrance fee was covered by our guide, but the sign said entrance was $30USD.

Our guide told us about the falls using the signs at the entrance to point out what we were going to see. We then walked along the path around the falls, taking time to take pictures. Our guide pointed out some of the plants and animals that we saw along the way and told us some more about the history and geography of the falls. We spent about 2 hours at the falls and were then driven back to our hotel.

The falls are very large and cover a length of almost 2km. The walk along the falls was flat and an easy walk except for a few slippery parts in the wet area. I'm not sure if it was just because of the mist, but I don't think there are any places in the park that you can see the entire falls from one spot. To see them, we had to take the Helicopter Tour of Victoria Falls. From the ground, you can see all of the falls, just not all at once. You can also see the rainbow bridge over the gorge where the water from the falls continues to flow.

We visited just after the high water season, in mid July, but there was still a lot of water. There was also a lot of mist, and the path was very wet and raining in many parts. Our guide warned us to take pictures at the start where there was less mist. We were also provided with rain coats, but our legs and feet still got soaked. Waterproof pants and shoes would be recommended or shorts and sandles (that dry quickly). The $30USD entry fee seems like a lot just to see the falls, but if you came all the way here, it's just something you have to do.
