Thompsons is a travel company that operates in southern Africa. Our travel agent booked us a private half-day winelands tour with Thompsons. We were picked up from our hotel on time, and our guide asked if we had any preferences or what we wanted to see. He seemed very willing to accomodate our preferences and gave us a number of options that we could choose between. As the day went on, and some things took longer than scheduled, he allowed us to adjust our schedule to get in exactly what we wanted to see.

Since it was only a half day tour, we only had time to visit two wineries and we didn't have time to see the town of Stellenbach. We went on a cellar tour and wine tasting at Seidelberg Wine Estate and visited the cheetah encounter and wildlife habitat at Spier. A half day was not quite enough to visit everything in the area, especially since it took about 45 minutes to drive there, and about an hour back (with traffic).

Our guide was pretty good and told us all kinds of information about the area and it's history to make the drive interesting. He also shared his experiences of living through the apparteid era.
