Inside the winery

Seidelberg is an Estate Winery in the Stellenbosch winelands area outside Cape Town. The winery is located in a very scenic area, and it was very quiet and peaceful there. The estate is not as large as Spier, but in addition to wine, they also had a glass blowing studio, a restaurant, and an inn, but we didn't go to any of those.

At our visit to Seidelberg, we began with a cellar tour, where one of the employees took us around the winery and walked us through the different stages of wine making. He had a lot of interesting information and was able to answer all our questions.

We then started the wine tasting portion of our visit. Our guide from the cellar tour asked if we had any specific wines that we wanted to taste, and was able to offer recommendations based on our preferences. We sat at a table on the lawn with a beautiful view while he brought over the wines. For each wine that we tasted, he gave us some more information and details about the wine and what to look for. He seemed like a nice guy and even joined us for some of the tastings. It was a great private experience and we felt that we got a lot out of it.

Estimated visit time

The cellar tour and wine tasted took about 30-45 minutes each. The estate is about an hour outside of Cape Town, so be sure to allow for travel time.
