Overall Experience: 7 / 10

Thirteen/WNET is one of the original 13 television stations. They are mainly funded through donations and are geared toward educational programming. As part of Open House NY, the station offered free tours of their studios and editing rooms. Although no reservations are required, we were required to show a piece of ID.

After being on the NBC Studio Tour, we were really impressed with this tour. Not only was it free, but it was also much more relaxed. The small tour groups gave it a private tour feel. We had freedom to walk around, take pictures, and get a close look at the studios. Although some of their equipment is very dated, the tour was interesting and informative.

Estimated Visiting Time

Tours started every 30 minutes and lasted about an hour. The tour groups had a maximum of 12 people. We went around midday and didn't have to wait at all. A tour was about to start soon after we arrived and it wasn't even full.
