Siesta Beach is a white sand public beach located on Beach Rd. in Sarasota, FL. It is the most popular beach on Siesta Key (more popular than Turtle Beach). In addition to lifeguards (during the day), the beach offers volleyball courts, restrooms, and vendors selling food and ice cream. The prime attraction at Siesta Beach is the soft white sand - it is very soft, and a pleasure to walk in.

There are foot showers provided to wash the sand off you and your feet after going for a walk. They are set back from the beach, towards the parking lot.

Every now and then, a jellyfish washes up on shore. Although it might look like fun to poke it and throw it around, use caution - certain types of jellyfish can be dangerous.

We didn't go into the water except with our feet, so I can't say what the quality of the water was like. The water was a bit cold for swimming in February.

Parking

There is a lot of parking available right at the beach - and it's all free! Unfortunately, on some weekends, the lot can fill up quickly. If you get there before noon, you should be OK. (If not, visit Turtle Beach - it is less popular).

Estimated Visiting Time

The amount of time you spend here depends on how much time you like to spend at the beach. You can lie on a towel the whole day, or walk the 4 mile beach enjoying the sand. An hour is often a good amount of time to enjoy the beach.

Sunset

Siesta Beach is on the west end of Siesta Key, so if you arrive at the right time of day, you will be able to see the sun setting over the Gulf of Mexico.
