Shake Shack is an old style fast food restaurant located in Madison Square Park (in New York City). The restaurant is a walk-up window with chairs and tables to sit at in the park. They offer burgers, hot dogs, fries, milk shakes, and ice cream. Beer is also available for purchase.

The primary reason to visit Shake Shack is to wait in the line. It sounds weird, but there is always a huge line at the Shake Shack, and the line is part of the draw. The food at Shake Shack isn't anything spectacular - it's a pretty average burger, really, and the fries taste like the frozen "Superfries" you can make at home. On this visit, we waited in line for 90 minutes to place our order, and then another 10 minutes before the food was ready. It was a very nice day outside, so it's likely it was a longer line than usual. The other appeal is that you can sit and eat outside on a nice day.

Dress

Very casual

Cost

Quite affordable. A standard burger is $3.75.

Service

Considering you have to wait in line for a long, long time, the "service" is pretty poor. There are two lines - the long one is for hot food/milkshakes, while the short line is for beer and a couple other quick items. After placing your order, you get a buzzer that alerts you when your order is ready for pickup at the pickup window.

Items Ordered

Two burgers, fries, and a milkshake

Cost:$3.75 for each of the burgers, $2.75 for the fries, and $5.25 for the milkshake

The burgers were good, but they really weren't anything special. There are many other burger places that offer a similar product. They were tasty and greasy, but nothing above average. If you want pickles or onions, they are served in a little container on the side.

The fries tasted like frozen fries that you can make at home. They were good, but again, really nothing special.

The milkshake was a very thick and tasty milkshake made from frozen custard.
