What an excellent show! Penn & Teller are playing at the Rio Hotel in Las Vegas. The hotel itself is located quite far from the strip, so you will either need a car to get there, or you can take one of the free busses from Caesars Palace, Harrahs, or Ballys.

We had low expectations going to see Penn & Teller - we had purchased "day of" discount tickets from Tix 4 Tonight, and really didn't know what to expect. We were familiar with their TV show, but had no idea what their live performance would be like. We were pleasantly surprised!

The Penn & Teller show is a mix of magic and comedy. There is nothing inappropriate about the show (no profanity or nudity). The magic tricks are fun, quite well done, and are narrated by Penn (who is quite funny).

We were sitting at the front of the "upper level". It wasn't really a balcony, but it was raised and behind the main floor. It wasn't connected to the main floor inside the theater, so we couldn't get to the stage without walking a long way. There is quite a bit of audience interaction in the show, and several people are invited on the stage as part of a trick. If you're sitting in the upper level you likely won't be picked to go on stage, although you may still be involved in some of their tricks.

Before the show, Penn often plays a Double Bass with a partner on the piano - they put in a little jazz show, so be sure to get there at least 30 minutes early.

After the show...

At the end of the show, Penn & Teller ran outside, and were waiting for the audience to take pictures and sign autographs. Here's your chance to hear Teller talk! They were both very nice and pleasant people. They were both friendly and patient. We were pleasantly surprised that they took the time to do that - they could have easily gone home or just disappeared, but rather chose to stick around and talk to everyone that waited in line at the end of their show. How nice!

Shows in Vegas are fairly casual - jeans and a t-shirt is fine, although you can dress up a little.

Cost

Tickets are $75 each, but often are available at Tix 4 Tonight at a discount (typically 25%)
