The Museum of London is a museum dedicated to the history and future of London. The museum starts with the prehistory of the area (around 50,000 BC) and proceeds from there. Major time periods of coverage include the Roman times, Medieval period, dress and fashion, Plagues & Fires, and Modern London. The displays were all high-budget and fairly interesting.

If you are interested in the history of London, the Museum of London Docklands is also highly recommended. It isn't quite as central, but is worth seeing and is often less crowded during peak times.

Estimated Visiting Time

30-45 minutes is probably sufficient for a quick walk through of the museum, but visitors should allow between 1.5 - 2 hours for a more thorough visit.

Cost

The Museum of London is free to visit.

Getting There

Take the tube to Barbican, St Paul's, or Moorgate stations. The museum is located at the corner of Aldersgate St and London wall. There are pedestrian overpasses above the street, as the entrance is on the second level.
