The Monte Carlo Casino is a famous casino located in Monaco. It is featured in a number of movies, including a few James Bond films. Overall, I was a bit disappointed with the casino. It was quite nicely decorated, in a classical style. There was a fair amount of intricate carvings, paintings, and gold work. It is a modern building that is decorated to look like a palace from hundreds of years earlier. It was a neat place to see because it's fairly well recognized, but otherwise it was a bit of a disappointment.

The casino is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. It is only a couple of rooms. During the afternoon, there are 5€ roulette tables available if you just want to place a small bet. Later on, there are higher limits (and private rooms for even higher limits). The dealers speak English well enough to get by for their games. The casino opens at 3pm on most days, and is open to casual tourists during the afternoon.

Cost

Admission to the casino is 10€ per person. A foreign passport is required.

Dress

During the afternoon, dress is casual. Shorts and sandals are fine. Later on, formal dress is required.

Getting There

From Nice (or the nearby area), you can take the Ligne D'Azur bus line to get to Monaco. Shuttles are also available from the airport, and the train is available to visit Monaco from further away.
