Le Reve is a Cirque du Soleil type show in the Wynn Hotel, on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip. The show is not officially a Cirque show, but it was produced by the same producer as many of the other Cirque shows.

Both Le Reve and O are water shows, but Le Reve is set in a circular theater, where each seat is no more than 12m (40 feet) from the stage. This creates a more intimate atmosphere, and everyone feels like they have a good seat.

The action in Le Reve is very impressive. There are people who dive from the very top of the theater into the pool, and it's quite a drop! There are some small acrobatic acts, and other physically impressive feats. I thought that some of the acts seemed to be "ripped off" from other Cirque du Soleil shows (for example, there was a "two strong men" act that was very similar to Mystere, but is probably a common circus act). Also, the music wasn't nearly as good as other Cirque shows - it was mediocre at best. The show was still quite enjoyable, but I found other shows (both Ka and Mystere) offered a better overall experience.

Seating

Unlike most performances, with Le Reve, the cheapest seats are in the front two rows. These rows compose the splash zone. Depending on where you are sitting, you will get wet (but not soaked). You may also remain dry the entire show if you are lucky. Le Reve and O general admission tickets are the same price, so you will almost certainly have a better seat if you go see Le Reve.

Much of the action takes place above the stage and in the air, making row F the best row in the theater. In row F, you are close enough to the front to have a good view, but far enough away that you can appreciate all the action that takes place over the stage. This was the first time I had such good seats that I could actually see the expressions of the performers. It really added to the experience. We could also appreciate a lot of the detail that went into the costumes.

Upscale Clowns?

Everything about the Wynn tries to be upscale. Rather than the annoying clowns of some other Cirque shows, Le Reve tries to be more upscale, and instead has four men dressed in white suits. Before the show begins, these men go through the theater, picking out some men with bald heads. After polishing the heads, they place red shower caps on the men. The chosen people are occasionally referred to during costume changes later in the show when the four men in white suits come out again for entertainment.

Cost

Discount tickets (20% off) are occasionally available through Tickets2Nite, but if you really want to see this show, then it's best to purchase full price tickets in advance. General admission is currently $119 per ticket.
