Kahana Village is a collection of privately owned condos in Maui with units available for rent. The rented rooms are cleaned between guests and every three days you are there (unless you are staying less than five days). Overall, we found that it was a pretty good place to stay for the five nights we were in Maui. Our group consisted of six people. We were able to fit into the queen bed, a pull-out couch, and two single beds that this unit provided. The unit also offered two bathrooms - one on the main floor, and one upstairs.

We were staying in Unit # 14. From our unit, we had a great view of the ocean. Many of the units did have an ocean view, but not all.

The two single beds were located in an upstairs area that was open to the main room. The upstairs also had a bathroom. The main area was attached to the kitchen, and had a TV and pull-out couch.

The kitchen was immediately in front of the entranceway. It had a granite counter top, and was fully stocked with an assortment of cookware, dishes, and a dishwasher. The main room had huge windows all around, and was connected to an outdoor patio (Lanai). The huge windows let lots of light enter, starting at sunrise. The blinds weren't thick enough to block any of the light, so we found that we were always waking up quite early.

Amenities

This unit and the condo complex offered some nice bonus features. On Mothers Day, the complex offered a free continental breakfast for its residence. This consisted of bagels, some fruit, yogurt, and danishes. The complex also offered great views of the ocean, beach access, a nice pool, a hot tub, and a couple barbecues.

Our unit also featured free internet, and free long distance phone calls to the US mainland and Canada. That was a nice bonus! The unit also offered beach towels, chairs, and a body board (that we found in the closet). There was also a ceiling fan in each room. Air conditioning was not available. Although it was quite hot, I didn't think air conditioning was necessary - the fans did a pretty good job of keeping us cool at night.

Cost

This room cost approximately $300 per day. Being able to fit six people in here made the cost quite reasonable. The kitchen also allowed us to eat breakfast in most days, saving a bit of money there, too.

Location

It would have been nicer if we had been located a bit closer to Lahaina, but otherwise, the location of Kahana Village was very good. We tried snorkeling on the beach by the condo, and there were a few tropical fish, but not nearly as many as Black Rock. Although you could try snorkeling here, it's not really worth the effort. Black Rock is much, much better.
