Independence Hall is the building where the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution were signed. There is an incredible amount of history in this building, and it's definitely worth seeing if you're anywhere nearby.

The only way to see Independence Hall is as part of a guided tour. The guided tour takes you inside the building to several rooms. Your guide provides information and history in each room. Unfortunately, our tour guide was awful. He was incredibly boring, and seemed very uninterested in giving us a tour. I've had some great experiences in the past with enthusiastic and passionate tour guides, and having a great guide at Independence Hall could easily turn this into a 10/10 attraction. I was really disappointed how boring our guide was. At some parts, it sounded like he was reading a script because he would say a joke, but it was said in the same monotonous tone as everything else. We weren't sure whether to laugh at what he was saying, or cringe because the delivery was so poor.

Getting Tickets

Tickets are necessary to enter Independence Hall. If you are in the area, you can pick up tickets the same day you want to go on the tour. Tickets are handed out for free on a first-come-first-served basis, so be sure to get to the ticket desk early to ensure you get a ticket. The tickets are often gone by 1:00pm.

If you aren't able to get there early, you can reserve tickets online at the Independence Hall Visitors Center website for $1.50 each. You must then pick up your tickets at least an hour before your tour departs.

Cost

Tickets are free if you pick them up at the ticket desk early in the morning, or $1.50 each if you reserve them ahead of time online.

Estimated Visiting Time

The tour of Independence Hall lasts between 45 minutes. There are a number of other attractions to see in the area (such as Congress Hall) - you will probably want to spend a couple hours in the area seeing everything.
