The Hana Bay Juice Co. is a sandwich and juice cafe in Paia. It's located near the beginning of the Hana Highway, making it a convenient place to stop to pick up sandwiches for your drive along The Road To Hana. In fact, the company even offers free cooler rentals (with a $7 deposit). The cafe closes early, so they have an arrangement with the gas station next door. People can drop off the coolers at the gas station until 7:00pm, and still get their deposit back.

Although the cafe did offer whole wheat buns, they told us to avoid them (because they were stale). On other days, whole wheat buns may be available.

Cost

Most food in Hawaii is a bit on the expensive side, and sandwiches from the Hana Bay Juice Co. are no exception. Sandwiches are around $7.50, with a combo available for $8.50.

Items Ordered

Hana Picnic Lunch - The Shaka

Choice of Gourmet Sandwich, side macaroni salad, chips, & cookie The Shaka - Roasted turkey breast, lettuce, tomato, sprouts, provolone, & basil mayo
Cost:$8.50

The Hana Picnic Lunch combo was actually quite good value. For only $1 more than just the sandwich, you also get a small bag of chips, a small cookie, and a small macaroni salad in a cup.

The macaroni salad was actually fairly good. It was just some oil on noodles, with a couple small carrot slices and pieces of red onion.

The sandwich really wasn't anything that special. It was a pretty typical sandwich without too much flavor.

Hana Picnic Lunch - Big Kahuna

Choice of Gourmet Sandwich, side macaroni salad, chips, & cookie Big Kahuna - Tender slices of roast beef, lettuce, red onion, pepper jack cheese, & horseradish mayo
Cost:$8.50

As above, the Hana Picnic Lunch was a pretty good deal. I thought the Big Kahuna sandwich was much tastier than The Shaka. I ordered the sandwich without the horseradish mayo, but it was still relatively flavorful (compared to The Shaka). It still was just like an "average" sandwich.
