The Central Park Conservancy is the non-profit organization that maintains Central Park in New York City. They offer a number of free tours of the park several times a week. Each park encompasses a different part of the park. This tour, the Castle and it's Kingdom, begins at Belvedere Castle (look for the people in the blue shirts near by the entrance to the "visitors area") and ends at the north end of the great lawn.

The tour tells you a bit about the history of the park, and the things to see in this part of the park. We didn't the sites weren't as good as the Cross Park Promenade Tour. I was also disappointed how little the castle had to do with the tour. The tour started at the castle, but we only spent about five minutes talking about the castle before moving on.

Although our tour guide appeared to be very knowledgeable about the park and its history, she had a weak voice and it was difficult to hear her at times. I think the tour would have been better with a louder and more enthusiastic guide.

Estimated Time

The tour is about 1 hour and 15 min. The tour concludes a 10-15 min walk from the starting location, so leave time to get back if you need to.

Cost

The tour is offered for free. You are encouraged to make donations to the Conservancy, but the tour guides do not request money directly.
