Buona Notte Restaurante is a restaurant in Little Italy, New York City. They offer food that's comparable to most other restaurants in the area, and most of the restaurants around here are pretty good.

Buona Notte offers both indoor and outdoor seating, either in front of their restaurant, or in a garden area. The bathrooms in the restaurant (located downstairs) are also quite nice.

Cost

Average and comparable for restaurants in the area. Pastas are mostly around $15, with meat dishes being slightly more.

Service

I was a little confused by the service scheme in this restaurant. We had different waiters at different parts of the meal. Somebody was responsible for our drinks, while another person was responsible for our food. They got everything we ordered, so it worked out OK.

Items Ordered

Bread

Cost:Free

Our table was presented with a basket of white bread, and a small dish of butter. We received some oil and balsamic vinegar for the bread, but we had to ask for it.

Insalata alla Caprese

Imported buffalo milk mozzarella with tomatoes & basil
Cost:$13.00

When this appetizer first came out, we were surprised that it was $13 for only three little tomatoes. After tasting it, we changed our opinion - it was very good. The cheese was excellent, and just went perfectly with the tomato and basil.

Ravioli di Ricotta al Pomodoro

Ricotta cheese ravioli sauteed with fresh tomato & basil
Cost:$13.00

The ravioli were pretty typical. What made this dish special was the sauce. The tomato meat sauce was full of flavor. It was a good complement to the ravioli.

Lasagna al Forno

Lasagna with Ricotta, Mozzarella & Meat Sauce
Cost:$13.00

The lasagna was a pretty average lasagna. It was tasty, but had a lot of mozzarella cheese compared to the other ingredients. It was also quite salty. I felt it could have been better if they adjusted the mozzarella/ricotta/meat ratio.
