Reviews:Reviews of Avenue Q at RateBroadway.com

Avenue Q is a fun broadway musical comedy with puppets. It follows the story of a person who just got out of college and moved to New York City. Overall, the songs are catchy, the actors are great, and the play is hilarious. Much of the humor is adult themed, so it's not appropriate for children (teenagers are probably fine, although that's up to the parents).

Probably the neatest thing about this play is its use of puppets. It's certainly not a traditional puppet show. The people controlling the puppets are on stage too, interacting with other people or puppets. Although the person holding the puppet is obviously controlling the puppet, their facial expressions and body language kind of blend in with the puppet in your mind, and you find the person personifying the puppet. The puppet/person acting is really well done.

Dress

As with most broadway plays, the dress code varies greatly. Some people go dressed in a suit, and other people go dressed in shorts and a t-shirt. Avenue Q is a more fun/young musical, so people usually dress a bit more casual.

Cost

Check the Avenue Q website for up-to-date pricing. Standard tickets are around $120, but you can get discount tickets (we got ours at 35% off) at one of the tkts discount ticket booths in the city.
