South Street Seaport TKTS booth

The TKTS Discount Booth in New York City offers discount show tickets for same day or next day performances of Broadway and off-Broadway plays. Most of the tickets are available at 50% of the original price. Some shows are only available at 25% off. The shows available for purchase vary each day. The seats available also depend on the show and when you go. Depending on the demand for the show you're going to, it's possible to get quite good seats (at 50% off).

TKTS has two locations in Manhattan. This one, near the South Street Seaport, is located at the corner of Front St. and John St. The other location is at Times Square. The Times Square location is usually much busier. We arrived at the South Street Seaport location right when the booth opened on Saturday, and waited about 30-45 minutes. Previously, at the Times Square location, we have waited more than an hour to get our discount show tickets. The South Street Seaport location also accepts credit card or cash payment, whereas the Times Square location only accepts cash. Update: Since the Times Square booth moved to Father Duffy Square right in the middle of Times Square, it also accepts credit cards now.
