Overall Experience: 5 / 10

The Arasta Bazaar is a small little bazaar street that's located quite close to the Sultan Ahmed Mosque (Blue Mosque). If you arrive at the Blue Mosque during prayer time, you can always stop by the Arasta Bazaar while waiting. To get there, walk east from the Blue Mosque (southeast from the seating area in front of the mosque). Go down some stairs that have an "Arasta Bazaar" sign in front of them, and you'll find yourself at a cafe. Just on the other side of the cafe is the Bazaar. There are lots of shops selling all sorts of touristy items - especially carpets. The Great Palace Mosaic Museum is also located at the bazaar.

At the time of year we visited, the bazaar was quite empty. It was mostly deserted when we walked through it. Most of the shopkeepers were playing backgammon and drinking tea outside their stores. Some people asked if we wanted to buy any carpets, but the vendors weren't aggressive.

Estimated Visiting Time

It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk through the bazaar and glance at the stores. If you want to do any shopping, allow additional time.
