The New England Aquarium is an aquarium located on the east side of Boston. The aquarium consists of one main room with its main attraction, a large tropical water tank, in the middle of the building. The large water tank has a spiral ramp going around the outside of it so visitors can view the fish from all sides, and at different depths. The tank includes some larger fish such as sharks, sting rays, and sea turtles. There are a number of smaller aquariums around the outside of the room, and a number of penguins on the ground floor. Outside the main room, there is an outdoor tank with seals.

Estimated Visiting Time

The New England Aquarium is pretty small - two hours will probably be sufficient to see everything there is to see. Throughout the day, there are presentations where volunteers and employees provide information and feed the animals.

Cost

Admission is $20.95 for adults, or $12.95 for children. IMAX movies are an additional fee. Considering how small the aquarium is, I didn't think this was very good value.

Getting There

The aquarium is located right in downtown Boston, so if you're staying anywhere in the area, you can probably walk there. Otherwise, take the T to the 'Aquarium' stop on the blue line, which is just outside.
