Hawaiian Airlines

Hawaiian Airlines offers flights between the islands of Hawaii, and from some Hawaiian airports to the west cost of the US. On the shorter flights between islands, they offer beverages. On the flights between the islands and the continental US, they also offer a full meal, and personal video players for rent. ($15 each - this includes two sets of headphones, so you can share with a friend. The personal video players offer a selection of videos and TV shows.)

On the flights between the islands and the mainland, they start off showing a video on "Hawaiian culture" on the big video screen. You can use your own headphones if you have them, or purchase some for the flight. There is then a full movie - on our flight, they showed the movie "27 Dresses". It looked too awful to watch.

The juice selection on all the flights includes pineapple juice (which is ironically a product of Canada, not Hawaii), and POG juice, which is a watered down combination of Pineapple, Orange, and Guava "fruit drink". They also provide a small package that contains pretzels and little triangle chips. The juice and the snack packet is pictured here.

Lunch Meals

For lunch, we were offered the choice of two meals: Pasta Marinara, or a Turkey Sandwich.

Pasta Marinara

The pasta had plain white noodles with a very small amount of sauce and veggie pieces on top. It actually tasted pretty good for what it was. The sauce had a nice light spice flavor. The pasta was a bit mushy and overcooked, but could have been much worse.

The pasta was also served with a small salad (mostly lettuce), and a small bag of cookies. The cookies were dry and crunchy.

Turkey Sandwich

The turkey sandwich was served with mayo and mustard on the side. It was plain and disappointing. It was just turkey with one slice of cheese. There were no vegetables. It was served in a bag with lays chips and cookies. The pasta was definitely the better option.
