There are lots of different vendors offering tours in Prague. Free Prague Tours are operated every day of the week, rain or shine. Although the tours don't have any upfront cost, participants are expected to tip the guide a "reasonable" amount (compared to a paid tour). Tipping is technically optional, but if you have a good guide, you won't mind paying.

Our tour left at 10:30am from outside the tourist information booth in the Old Town Square. Our tour lasted around 3.5 hours. It was a walking tour, and we had to climb up 200 stairs, but the walking pace was quite slow.

On the tour, we visited St. James Church, then walked through the Jewish Quarter and the Klementium. We walked across the Charles Bridge to the John Lennon Wall. We then walked up to Prague Castle, which is where the tour finished.

All along the way, our guide was quite informative, and told us interesting stories about everything that we were seeing. We thought the tour was a very good introduction to the city. The guide pointed out a number of sites that we decided to go back to on our own, later in our trip. With the exception of St. James Church, we didn't go into any of the attractions during the tour.
