Overall Experience: 4 / 10

What a stressful experience! It seems that everywhere in Victoria Falls people are asking you if you want to buy their statues/Zimbabwe dollars/carvings or just give them money for no reason. The open market was that times 10. There were about 20 shops all selling the same things. Everyone claimed to be the artist, but all the artwork looked the same. There were spoons, jewelery, bowls, tapesteries, carvings, and other gadgets. Vendors always started asking 10 times what they really wanted.

Items were available to sell for dollars, euros, rands, the shirt on your back, pens, hats, watches, or the shoes on your feet. We found the best way to bargain was to walk away, then the price kept falling. That was sometimes difficult as the merchant tried to position himself between you and the exit. Small carvings went down to 2 for a $1 and 11 Zimbabwe notes for $2 (although you may pay more for the trillion dollar notes).
