Vögele is a German restaurant located in Bozen/Bolzano, Italy. It is a slightly upscale restaurant, with slightly upscale food (and prices to match). We were quite pleased with everything we received at Vogele. Tables are available both indoors and on the patio.
Dress
Bolzano is a pretty casual place, but if you're eating in the dining room, you may want to put on a slightly nicer shirt.
Cost
Above average for the area - most appetizers are around €9, and most entrees around €20.
Reservations
We visited during the flower festival, so we thought it would be a good idea to go in earlier in the day and make reservations. Otherwise, it may have been difficult to get a table.
Items Ordered
Varizion d'insalata
This dish appeared to be an asian-inspired chicken salad. The chicken was covered in sesame seeds, and very lightly fried. The lettuce had a light vinaigrette dressing.
Bruschetta
The bruschetta consisted of a bit piece of bread topped with a soft cheese, almost like a cream cheese, but with more flavor. It was covered in tomatoes, lettuce, and prosciutto.
Spaghetti mit Nußpesto und Radicchiostreifen
Spaghetti con pesto di noci e radicchioThe spaghetti was the weakest dish we ordered. There just wasn't much to it - it was just some spaghetti and a couple of tomatoes. The pesto was barely noticeable, but added a slightly nutty flavor.
Rosa gebratenes Rindsfilet in Pfeffersauce, dazu Grillgemuse und Kartoffelspalten
Filetto di manzo in salsa di pepe verde con verdure grigliate e spicchi di patateThis dish was steak and potatoes. The steak was topped with a delicious sauce, and some green peppercorns. The peppercorns were slightly spicy, but added a very nice flavor when eaten with the meat. The potatoes were lightly spiced, and were also quite good (as were the grilled vegetables).
Hirschfilet mit Honig-Rotwein Radicchio, dazu Polenta und Austernpilze
Filetto di cervo con radicchio al vino rosso-miele, con polenta e funghiThis dish was deer and polenta. The deer had a slightly different texture/taste than beef, and was served with an excellent sauce. The polenta was also quite good. It had a nice buttery taste, and also went well with the sauce. There were some large pieces of mushrooms hidden in the sauce.
Parfait on pineapple carpaccio
Tris di semifreddi su salsa di mango e frutti di boscoThis dessert was a fruit flavored thick ice cream, with bits of nuts mixed in. Each slice of ice cream had a different nut and a slightly different taste to it. The mango sauce tasted very strongly of mango, and was quite good.
