Overall Experience: 6 / 10
Date Visited: Saturday, September 5, 2009

The Grand Trianon and the Petit Trianon are two estate houses, located a couple kilometers away from The Palace of Versailles. The walk is fairly long (25-30 minutes), but a tram is available, potentially for an extra cost.

We found The Grand Trianon building was larger and more beautiful than the Petit Trianon. The Petit Trianon was like a nicely furnished large old house - there wasn't much to it. There were pamphlets available in different languages that had some explanation about the buildings and the various rooms. The Grand Trianon had a number of large gardens behind it. They are less crowded than the Versailles Gardens, although not nearly as large.

Overall, we were somewhat disappointed with the Trianon estate houses. They were nice to look through, but the palace and main gardens were much nicer, and they were quite close by.

Estimated Visiting Time

Visitors can expect to spend 30-45 minutes walking through the estate houses. If you want to tour the gardens, expect to allow another hour.
