The archaeological crypt is a museum located just outside Notre-Dame Cathedral. The cathedral was actually built on top of an even older city, and this site allows visitors to explore that city, located directly underneath Notre Dame cathedral.

The museum provides a nice overview of the history of Paris, from its founding, and through Roman and Medieval times. Visitors can see "New Notre-Dame Street" which is now very old, and buried underneath the square in front of the cathedral.

Overall, I was quite impressed with the museum. Paris has a lot of history, especially in this site, and the museum does a nice job explaining some of that history. It's also very neat to see "New Notre Dame Street", located just underneath the current cathedral. It helps visitors appreciate the rich history of the site.

Cost

Entrance to the museum is 4€50, or it is included in the Paris Museum Pass.

Estimated Visiting Time

The museum is fairly small. Visitors should allow 20-30 minutes to visit the crypt.
