The Meatball shop is a meatball restaurant in NYC with 3 locations - 2 in Manhattan and this one in Brooklyn. The restaurant has a fun casual atmosphere and a fun build-your-own menu. You use a dry erase marker to check off what you want on the menu and then hand it back to your waiter.

The beef was hormone free - their website lists the farms their meat comes from. Unfortunately we didn't find the meatballs to have much flavor.

Sliders

classic beef with tomato sauce, and vegetable with mushroom
Cost:$3 each

The sliders part of the menu was made up of a grid where you could choose any combination of 5 types of meatballs and 6 types of sauce. The sliders I chose were both pretty good. They were fairly small and not nearly as good a deal as getting a full sized sandwich, but a good opportunity to try different flavors. The vegetable meatball was more like a lentil and vegetable patty, but was really good in sandwich form with the mushroom sauce.

Hero

choose the meat, sauce, cheese, bread - beef meatballs, classic tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and whole wheat bread.
Cost:$9

The meatball hero was a huge sandwich! It came with a small and plain-tasting salad. At only $9, the meal was really good value, but tasted just OK. The meatballs were not the best I've had, and the sandwich in general did not have too much flavor.
