The laughing Halibut seemed like a cheap diner with cheap British diner food. There was a take out counter and tables at the back to sit and stay. The service was quick and the food was simple and heavy.

Service

There were lots of empty tables when we arrived. We were offered to take a seat where we like. The waitress brought over a menu and our food and bill were ready very quickly. Pay at the register whenever you're ready.

Items Ordered

Chicken & Mushroom Pie

Cost:4.50£

They were all out of the beef & onion pie, but they had a chicken & mushroom instead. The pie was alright. It was mostly gravy with a couple of chunks of chicken and maybe a mushroom, but with a nice soft crust. The chips were thick-cut.

Fish & Chips with Mushy Peas

Cost:6.75£ + 1.15£

The fish & chips were ordered with cod fish and a side order of mushy peas. The fish was not bad, but I've had better. I found a single bone in the fish. It wasn't quite as crispy as I'd like, and the fish fell apart from the batter. It didn't come with any sauce, but there were some condiments at the table. The mushy peas were pretty good - they tasted like mashed up peas.
