The Langham Hotel in London touts itself as a luxury hotel. The hotel is over 150 years old, but has recently been restored. The hotel is in a great location, just a short walk from several Tube lines. It is also walking distance to some popular neighborhoods, shopping, and restaurants. It is slightly tucked away from the noisy intersections, and gets fairly quiet at night.

The hotel lobby is quite beautiful and offers several fancy restaurants. The Palm Court claims to be the originator of the afternoon tea. They now serve high tea for high prices, and very limited seating. I was disappointed that they had nothing available on the weekends of our stay.

The Room

The Classic Executive rooms were quite large and very comfortable. The room included two armchairs, a breakfast table, and a full sized desk. The desk had plugs available that took American, European, and British plugs. The bed was a full king-sized bed with very soft sheets. It was a pleasure to sleep in that bed. The room had two large windows facing different directions.

The Bathroom

The bathroom was the only downside to the hotel room. It had new looking marble tiles and counter and was overall a nice bathroom, but there were a few things wrong with it. The toilet seemed to require a few pushes before it would flush. The shower was elevated from the rest of the bathroom and the water didn't drain well, so every time I opened the shower door, water would spill onto the bathroom floor. The room was kept very clean, except for a small mushroom growing out of the corner in the bathroom wall that was just gross.

Service

The room was cleaned and tidied every day. In addition to the usual cleaning service, there was also a turn-down service in which they closed the curtains, put away the extra fancy pillows/blankets and laid out slippers next to the bed. I thought that was a nice touch.

Cost

Although the hotel is very nice and well located, it comes with a cost. Rooms at the time we visited were around £250-£350 per night. Internet access, room service, and the hotel restaurants were also all very expensive.
