The Guggenheim is a modern-looking museum in New York City that houses rotating exhibits. Perhaps the most interesting part of the museum is the building itself - it is one long spiral ramp that visitors walk along as they view exhibits. There are a number of side rooms that also house exhibits.

When we visited, there was a Frank Lloyd Wright exhibit being displayed. We loved it! I had no idea I could appreciate architecture, but Wright's works were amazing. I'm a bit disappointed that some of his more interesting buildings were designed more than 50 years ago, and we still don't have buildings that look that neat. He was definitely a visionary that designed some very impressive looking structures.

The museum also housed a number of other art pieces (by popular names such as Monet, Rembrandt, Van Gogh, and Picasso) and some other smaller exhibits, but I didn't find them as impressive as Wright's works. The spiral ramp was lined with drawings and models of his buildings. He designed buildings before the advent of computers, so all his drawings were done by hand. They were some of the most impressive buildings I have ever seen. (Frank Lloyd Wright also designed the Guggenheim, although there are many designs that are far more impressive than this one).

Estimated Visiting Time

We found the Frank L. Wright exhibit at the museum incredibly interesting, but there's still only so long you can look at that type of drawing. We spent approximately 2.5 hours at the museum, and that was sufficient. Depending on how you feel about what is being exhibited during your visit, you may want to allow more (or less) time.

Cost

Adult tickets to the Guggenheim are $18. We visited on one of the free admission days - the "Museum Mile Festival" - and were able to visit from 6-9pm.
