The Green Flash is a restaurant located on the beach in San Diego. Overall, I was disappointed with the quality of the restaurant. The food was all quite bland, overpriced, and not very good. The restaurant is located right on the water, so the view is quite good. Everyone in our group ordered fish, since it looked like fish was their specialty. However, it may be a better place to go for a hamburger on the beach.

Parking

There is street parking available outside the restaurant, or pay parking in nearby lots.

Cost

The fish entrees were around $20 each. Hamburgers and salads were cheaper ($7 - $15), while steaks started from $22.

Dress

Dress is very casual.

Items Ordered

Bread

Cost:Free

Our table was presented with warm bread after ordering. It was served with whipped butter. The bread was all white, and nothing spectacular.

Green Flash House Salad

Dinner salad with avocado, tomato, cucumber & egg
Cost:$7.25

This salad was surprisingly large. It was mostly lettuce, with two tomato slices, two cucumber slices, 1/4 of an avocado, and one egg. The Italian dressing it was served with was pretty good, as were the croutons.

Filet of Fresh Fish - Daily Special: Sea Bass

Daily selections charbroiled, blackened, or lightly breaded and grilled
Cost:$18.95

I was quite disappointed in this fish. It was incredibly bland. The fish had no flavor at all, and nothing was done to give it any flavor. It was ordered "lightly breaded and grilled". The "light breading" was indeed very light - I couldn't taste it. There was no seasoning or topping on most of the fish. The fish was quite large and de-boned, so that was one plus.

The battered fries were pretty good. The veggies weren't exciting at all - they were also very bland, and probably made from a frozen bag.

Filet of Fresh Fish - Daily Special: Halibut

Cost:$20.95

The Halibut was also ordered lightly battered and grilled. The fish had a very mild fish flavor, but had no other flavor at all. It was also quite bland. The baked potato was served with sour cream and green onions. It was pretty good, but typical.
