The City Bakery is a cafe in New York's Union Square neighborhood. The cafe has freshly baked pastries, a hot and cold salad bar and their famous hot chocolate. The food here makes for a nice light snack, but can get quite pricey if you are looking for something more substantial.

Cost

Pastries cost close to $5 each. The hot food and salad bar is ridiculously priced - I don't remember the exact amount, but it may be close to $20/pound.

Service

Items Ordered

Ginger Hot Chocolate, Pretzel Croissant, Pastry

Cost:$14.25

The hot chocolate here is famous, and one of the top rated in NYC. You can also pay extra for a home made marshmallow. The hot chocolate is very rich, and sweet. The marshmallow does taste fresh, and becomes super soft when melted in the hot chocolate, but is also very sweet. If you want to try the hot chocolate and not be overwhelmed, you can also get it in a small size.

The pretzel croissant is another item the City Bakery is known for. It is a delicious blend of croissant and pretzel. It's like an extra crispy croissant, but I found it a bit too salty.

The pizza pastry had a crispy base and topped with a bit of soft cheese, tomato sauce, and mushrooms. It was also delicious, but small.
