Terra restaurant describes itself as "fine dining north of the core". It had some elements of a fine dining restaurant, but was lacking some of the customized chef specialties like an amuse bouche or a chef's tasting menu. The food was good quality and tasty but still was a bit over salted, and wasn't as top notch as other fine dining restaurants we've been to. Still, for a suburban area, I was impressed.

Dress

Smart casual is fine

Cost

Appetizers are around $15-$20 and entrees are around $30-$40.

Service

The service was pretty formal but friendly.

Reservations

We were able to get reservations the same day. The restaurant was pretty busy, but there were a few empty tables when we visited. It is a large restaurant and can accommodate a lot of people, but the layout and decor make it feel smaller and cozy - the room is separated into different sections.

Items Ordered

Daily Soup

Spiced White Bean
Cost:$12.95

The soup of the day was a white bean soup spiced with winter spices. It tasted a little bit sweet and very festive. It was creamy from the beans without being too heavy or salty.

Classic Caesar Salad

with chopped romaine hearts, crispy garlic croutons, grilled corn, double-smoked bacon and creamy caesar dressing
Cost:$13.95

The Caesar salad was a pretty typical good Caesar salad.

Wild Mushroom Risotto

with Grana Padano shards, scallion, tomato concassé and truffle oil
Cost:$26.95

The truffle oil was the prominent flavor in this dish followed by the wild mushrooms. It was really delicious but also very filling and a large portion.

Australian Rack of Lamb

with honey-mustard-pecan crust, mashed potatoes, winter vegetables and natural jus
Cost:$49.95

The lamb was very tender and flavorful with the nutty crust. The meat was a bit too fatty for my liking. The mashed potatoes were typical creamy and a bit too salty.

Chocolate Flourless Torte

This was a very rich and moist chocolatey cake. After such a large meal we split this between three people. We also enjoyed some selections from their extensive tea collection.
