Teatro Cafe
Rome, Lazio, Italy
Rome, Lazio, Italy
Teatro Cafe is just a few blocks away from the Colosseum in Rome, Italy. They served typical Italian food in a casual setting. The outdoor patio was covered because it was raining, but it was nice to sit outside in the rain and stay dry. We were disappointed with the food at Teatro Cafe. It was ok, but we've had better food in Italy.
Cost
The food was comparable in price to many other restaurants in the area.
Service
The service was very slow. We spent a few hours at the restaurant, but we didn't mind having the time to relax and stay out of the rain. We each ordered 2 courses, and they brought the food out in a strange order - they brought out the lasagna before the salad. The menu was in English and Italian and the servers spoke English as well.
Items Ordered
Minestrone Con Pasta
Italian vegetable soup with pastaThe soup was pretty good and had quite a bit of vegetables and pasta in it. It didn't have much of a tomato base to it.
Caprese pomodoro e mozzarella di bufala
Tomatoes and mozzarella bufaloThe salad was served with olive oil and vinegar on the side. The cheese in the salad was very good and fresh. The tomatoes were not so good, and green.
Lasagna
Baked noodles with meat and tomato sauceThere was nothing to complain about the lasagna. It was simple but good.
Pizza Cappricciosa
with olives, eggs, mushrooms, little artichokes and hamI had mixed feelings about the pizza. The dough and cheese were good. I didn't like the toppings as much. I wanted to try it because I heard it was very traditional. The ham was difficult to eat because it didn't cut nicely, and the artichokes had a bit of a strange slightly pickled taste. The pizza was quite large for one small person to eat on their own.
