Tangra is a restaurant and banquet hall in Queens, NYC. They serve Chinese food with Indian spices. It's like a Chinese restaurant for people more accustomed to Indian food. As a restaurant, it is fairly casual and family friendly. We thought chinese/indian would be a neat combination and decided to try it out.

Items Ordered

Vegetable Pakora

8 pieces
Cost:$5.95

The vegetable pakora were like small balls of mashed potato with a few peas and deep fried. They were like standard Indian pekora.

Chicken in Gravy with Chili and Gobi in Gravy with Manchurian

Chili - a spicy brown sauce with cumin seed Manchurian - Spicy brown sauce with cilantro flavor
Cost:$10.95 and $10.50

Both the sauces tasted very similar. They were both quite spicy, although the chili was slightly spicier. The chicken was lightly fried, but otherwise pretty plain tasting. The chicken also seemed to be of a pretty poor quality. The gravy made the sauce thick and heavy. The cauliflower was also pretty plain except for the sauce. The gravy was quite thick and a little bit gooey - I didn't really like it.

The entrees were served in a separate dish so they could be shared family style. Each entree also came with a small bowl of white rice.
