SriPraPhai is a Thai restaurant located in Queens, NY. The restaurant has a nice modern looking exterior, but the interior is fairly plain. Also, at the moment, they only accept cash.
I was relatively pleased with the food at SriPraPhai. They had traditional Thai dishes at reasonable prices. Everything we ordered was good.
The restaurant was fairly large on the inside. We went at 7:30pm on Sunday evening, and there was no wait (although the restaurant was fairly busy).
Dress
Very casual.
Cost
Prices are reasonable by NYC standards. Most items were $10 or less. There were some pricier items going up to $20, but most were in the $10-range.
Service
The service was a bit slow. It took a long time for our food to arrive after we ordered, but the restaurant was fairly busy, so I suppose this could be expected.
Items Ordered
Papaya Salad
Papaya salad with dry shrimp & peanutThe Papaya Salad was a slightly spicy salad made mostly of small papaya shavings (there was just one lettuce leaf for decoration). It wasn't as sweet as I thought it would be, but it did have a nice spice. I thought the dry shrimp pieces were strange, and I didn't like them. They were hard and chewy, and felt out of place with the soft papaya in the salad.
Cashew Chicken
Saute chicken with cashew nut & toasted chiliThe cashew chicken consisted of chicken pieces that were covered in a delicious sweet batter, and then fried. It was served with a small dish of rice (your choice of either sticky rice or coconut rice). The chicken was sweet, slightly crispy, and delicious.
The coconut rice was like a plain sticky rice, but it did have a hint of sweetness and coconut flavor.
Yellow Curry
Yellow (Karee) curry with coconut milk, chicken, potato, and onion. Served with cucumber sauceThe Yellow Curry was nice and spicy. It had a nice flavor of coconut milk. There were a few large pieces of chicken in the curry, and a couple smaller pieces of potato and onion. The curry was served with a very small dish of "salad" (which must have been the cucumber sauce). The curry was also served with a choice of coconut or sticky rice.
The yellow curry was larger than it appears. I had difficulty finishing all of it.
