Sprig is a new restaurant that just opened a few weeks before we dined here. The restaurant is in the large high-ceiling lobby of an office building. The food was excellent and had some interesting twists. The restaurant is slightly upscale with a modern look and comfortable large chairs. I think we were the only patrons at the restaurant the entire evening, making it a very cozy and quiet place to eat.

Dress

Smart casual, although there was nobody there to compare to.

Cost

Entrees were $20-$30

Service

We felt that our service was a bit rushed at first, which was unusual considering it was not a very busy night. When we commented on this, they apologized and gave everyone at the table a free dessert.

Reservations

They do take reservations, although it wasn't necessary when we visited.

Items Ordered

Tomato Fondu

with Humboldt Fog Goat cheese, toasted baguette, micro basil
Cost:$13

This was under the small plates section in the menu, and was a nice appetizer for sharing. The cheese was melted on roasted tomatoes. The cheese was both creamy and strong tasting. They brought us extra bread when we ran out.

Feta Stuffed Lamb Meatballs

Minted cucumber relish & lemon scented yogurt sauce
Cost:$11

This was another small plates dish. I really liked the mint and yogurt flavors. The meatballs were good, but the sauce around them made this dish especially delicious.

Mix of 3 Cheeses

Fresh chevre, ricotta & Roquefort
Cost:$9

The cheese was served on a platter with a sweet date spread, and a whole roasted date with roasted almonds. All the cheeses were excellent.

Brochettes of Za'atar Spiced Grilled Lamb

Cheesy crisp polenta, roasted tomatoes, rosemary mint pistou & broccolini
Cost:$24

This dish was amazing. The grilled lamb was served on a sprig of rosemary, which gave the lamb a nice flavor throughout. The lamb was tender and had a nice sauce on it that also went well with the crisp polenta.

Peets Coffee & Coriander Rubbed Skirt Steak

Rajas con crema & chipotle sweet potato galettes
Cost:$29

The steak had a really nice sauce. It tasted great, but was a bit tough. The sweet potatoes were lightly fried and also deliciously flavored.

White Chocolate Mousse & Peet’s Coffee Chocolate Custard

Chocolate Custard Glaced Orange & Espresso Dust
Cost:$9

The mousse was very rich and quite a large portion. It could easily have been shared. The candied orange bits on top were a nice touch, but not everyone enjoyed them.

Apple Bread Pudding

Cost:$9

The dessert special was the bread pudding. It had a nice presentation, served hot in a small skillet. It was pretty good, and also quite large.
