Smorgas Chef is one of several restaurants on the historic pedestrian plaza of Stone street. The area is a lot of fun on a nice day. The street is completely filled with outdoor dining tables. Smorgas chef offered a "Swedish" menu including a variety of open faced sandwiches, salads, and entrees.

Sandwiches were $10-$15

Service

The restaurant was very busy at lunch time. We waited a long time to get our food and they forgot to bring us the appetizer we ordered. It turned out to be a good thing they forgot it, because we were all full anyway.

Reservations

Outdoor seating is first-come first-serve, but it fills up fast at lunch time on a nice day.

Items Ordered

Swedish Meatball Sandwich

lingonberry sauce, 8-grain toast, mashed potatoes
Cost:$11

The open faced sandwich came with a small salad of mostly greens with some tomatoes and a light vinaigrette dressing. The mashed potatoes were creamy. The meatballs were pretty good. The sauce was a little bit sweet with the berries mixed in.

Chicken Gouda Sandwich

chicken breast, roasted red peppers, melted smoked gouda, mashed potatoes
Cost:$12

The chicken sandwich had the same sides as the meatball sandwich. The chicken sandwich was a bit drier, but had a nice smokey flavor from the soft cheese.
