Drumbeat Charters

There are a number of cruise companies at Hout Bay that offer short cruises of seal island, the shipwrecks of Moari Bay, and Chapmans Peak. We stopped here as part of Thompsons Private Cape Peninsula Tour, and our tourguide picked Drumbeat Charters for us to go with. There wasn't anything special about Drumbeat Charters, but they did what they said they were going to do - they left on time, took us to Seal Island to see the seals, and then we went back to the dock.

The scenery along the way was also quite nice. Haut Bay is surrounded by some small mountains which provide a pretty backdrop for pictures.

Drumbeat Charters has two boats - a small one and a larger one. Both are fairly small, although the larger boat (that we took) has a small bar, a small indoor seating area, and room on the outer deck for people to stand.

The entire tour lasted 40 minutes. During the morning, Drumbeat Charters offers this cruise every 45 minutes. During the afternoons, they offer longer 1-hour cruises for the same rate.

Both the 40-minute morning cruises and the hour long afternoon cruises cost R65 per person.
