Racha is a Thai restaurant located in Seattle, near Seattle Center. When ordering something on their menu, you can request the level of spiciness on a 5-point scale (1 being not spicy, and 5 being the most spicy).

The kitchen is located in the interior of the restaurant, and is surrounded by glass walls. This gives you the opportunity to see the chefs cooking while you wait.

Cost

Entrees are around $12-$16.

Dress

Racha is a fairly casual restaurant; jeans and a t-shirt is fine.

Service

The service was standard - nothing stood out one way or another.

Reservations

On Sunday at 5pm, we had to wait approximately 10 minutes for our group of 8 to be seated. The restaurant was fairly full.

Items Ordered

Golden Cashew (Thai Stir-Fry)

Bell peppers, green onions, celery, carrot, cashew nuts & Rache Special Sauce
Cost:$12.50 with chicken breast, beef, pork, or tofu. $15.50 with prawns or squid, and $16.50 with scallops or mixed seafood

This stir fry was ordered with a spiciness of 2, and had a little bit of spice to it. It had a few large pieces of chicken, and quite a few other veggies. The sauce was quite liquidy, and somewhat salty. It wasn't served on anything (noodles or rice) - just the chicken and the veggies. You could order a bowl of rice on the side if you wanted something to accompany the stir fry.

Racha Special Noodles

Stir-fry with noodles & seasoned with Thai soy sauce. Served on a bed of sauteed fresh spinach & topped with peanut sauce & toasted sesame seeds.
Cost:$12.50 with chicken breast, beef, pork, or tofu. $14.50 with prawns or squid

This was ordered with a spiciness of 3, but it really wasn't all that spicy. In fact, the Golden Cashew stir fry was probably sightly spicier (and it was ordered with a 2).

The peanut sauce was very good - almost like a more liquidy peanut butter. There were a few large noodles underneath the sauce and chicken, but the dish was mostly spinach. The noodles were wide and flat, like a wide linguine. I thought the spinach was an odd combination - it was cold and uncooked, and didn't seem to fit very well with the warm peanut sauce.

Chocolate Crepes

Cost:Free with your meal

The chocolate crepe was a pleasant surprise at the end of the meal. It was really delicious - a nice thin crepe folded over with chocolate sauce.
