Park Avenue Winter is a restaurant that changes its menu, theme and decor with each season. It's a fairly large restaurant located in Midtown East, but is split up into three different rooms. The food was creative and above average, but so were the prices. There wasn't very much vegetable in the dishes, but perhaps that was because we were there for the winter season.

Items Ordered

Amuse-bouche

The amuse bouche was a little fried Parmesan fritter with a bit of a sour citrus on top.

Cured-Lemon Caesar Salad

Cost:$16

We shared the salad between two people and they split it nicely on two plates. The lemon on top of the salad tasted like thinly sliced candied lemons. The crouton was a thinly sliced crispy cracker. It was a slight twist on the usual salad.

Halibut

Black Truffles
Cost:$42

The halibut itself was pretty bland except for a thin crispy fried edge. It had a nice creamy sauce and a poached egg that mixed in with the sauce. There were two thin slices of black truffles on the fish and a bit of some kind of green leaf.

Berkshire Pork Chop

Maple Coffee Glaze, Roasted Quince & Oats
Cost:$36

The glaze on the pork chop was delicious! It was a little bit sweet and had a bit of a nutty taste. The roasted quince and oats also tasted a bit nutty and went well with the pork chop. It was a fairly large piece of meat, but had no vegetables with it.

Broccoli & Cheetos

Cost:$9

When we saw this on the menu we just had to try it to find out what it was. It was a delicious cheesy broccoli. There was a cheese sauce on the bottom that got soaked up by the Cheetos makes them moist on the inside but a little crispy on the outside. It was a very unusual dish for a fancy restaurant, but tasted good.

The Chocolate Cube

Cost:$15

The chocolate cube was a nicely shaped dessert. It was a chocolate mousse with pieces of devil's food cake mixed in, filled into a chocolate square shell. There was also some chocolate ice cream, a chocolate meringue cookie, and chocolate tuiles. It was a very rich and filling dessert.
