P.F. Chang's is a chain restaurant in the US. They offer nicely presented American Chinese food. The decor and service make the restaurant a little upscale, but the prices still remain fairly reasonable for the quality of food offered.
This location is located in a high-tech/business area outside of San Diego. It seems to be a very popular location. It was quite busy and there was a wait for dinner at 8pm in the middle of the week.
One of the best ways to eat at P.F. Chang's is to order several dishes and share them among the group. Most of the dishes are brought out on a platter with a serving spoon that you can use to scoop out onto your own plate. The dishes are fairly large, so typically you can get by ordering fewer dishes than people.
Cost
Most entrees were $10-$15.
Dress
The restaurant is slightly upscale, but casual dress is appropriate. Some people were wearing "smart casual" clothes.
Items Ordered
Harvest Spring Rolls
Crispy spring rolls filled with shredded vegetables (4)There were several sauce brought to the table before any food came out. The sauces could be used for any of your dishes. Our server recommended mixing some of these sauces. The spring rolls were served with a sweet sauce, but they were better with the sauce combination our server recommended. The spring rolls were pretty weak and lacked much flavor otherwise.
Almond and Cashew Chicken
Stir-fried with bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms in a garlic soy sauceThis dish was quite good and the best of the dishes we ordered. It was not too salty, and was everything you expect from chicken Teriyaki. There was a good ratio of chicken, peppers, and cashews.
The entrees are served with steamed white or brown rice. We ordered brown rice and they brought out one large bowl that was enough for all the dishes. The brown rice was quite good and still a little bit sticky.
Beef with Broccoli
Served Cantonese-style, tossed with fresh steamed broccoliThe beef was quite tender. The sauce had a good ginger flavor, but we found the dish tasted too salty.
Double Pan Fried Noodles
Semi-crisp egg noodles stir-fried with vegetables and with choice of beef, pork, chicken or shrimpThe noodles were cooked just right - soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Unfortunately, we found the dish was just way too salty to the point where it was unpleasant to eat it.
Parking
There is valet parking available.
