The Stedelijk Museum, or the municipal museum of Leiden is one of the oldest museums in the Netherlands. The museum is located in the Lakenhal, which was once a clothing factory.

The museum houses a number of art pieces that are somehow related to the city. A number of artworks by Rembrandt, who was born in Leiden, are on display in the museum. The artwork varies in time from Renaissance to modern. There are a few descriptions of some of the artwork in both English and Dutch. The temporary exhibition was only in Dutch.

In addition to the artwork, the upper levels have some historical artifacts and information about the clothing industry that was once located in the building. The building itself is also quite interesting to see.

The top floor contains information about the history of the city of Leiden. I found this exhibit to be the most interesting. They had a lot of fun stories and facts about Leiden that helped me to appreciate the city.
