Moxie's Classic Grill is a chain of restaurants in Canada with several locations around Toronto. We had enjoyed eating at Moxie's before, but were disappointed in our experience this evening. All the food was very salty, but some dishes were so salty we couldn't eat them.

Dress

Casual

Cost

Most entrees are around $20

Service

One member at our table complained about the stew being way too salty. The manager came over and made up some lame excuse and then gave 15% off to only one of the two orders of the stew.

Reservations

They do take reservations, and it may be a good idea for larger groups. When we arrived with a group of 6 the only free tables were in the bar area.

Items Ordered

Sweet Potato Fries

with two dips
Cost:$8

The sweet potato fries had some nice spiced flavoring on them. They had so much flavor that we couldn't tell what the dips were, because they had no taste by comparison.

Roasted Beet & Arugula Salad

with goat cheese, pine nuts, baguette crisps & sherry vinaigrette
Cost:$13

The salad was mostly arugula, but with a variety of beets. The dressing was light and went well with the cheese and beets.

Chipotle Mango Chicken

grilled with a sweet & smoky dry rub, fresh mango, served with jasmine rice, seasonal vegetables, and a fresh tomato and avocado salsa
Cost:$18

The chicken was salty and lightly spiced, but not nearly as salty as the rice, which was just unpleasant to eat. The broccoli was steamed with no additional flavoring. The mango was hard but sweet.

Winter Stew with puff pastry

turkey, mushrooms & vegetables simmered with shallots & creamy white wine sauce, topped with puff pastry
Cost:$15

This item was on the special holiday menu. The stew was just way too salty. It was unbearable to eat. I sent back most of it, but they did not give me any compensation for it. It was mostly broth - more like a soup than a stew. The only thing good here was the puff pastry which was light and not salted and helped make the soup slightly edible when mixed together.
