Mezes is a Greek restaurant on the Danforth, in Toronto. It was visited during the 2007 Taste of the Danforth festival. Neither the pricing nor quality was anything outstanding, but they did offer average Greek cuisine for average prices. The service was also very fast. Even though it was busy for the Taste of the Danforth, we didn't have to wait for a table, and we got our food very quickly, although that may have been because we all ordered Mousakas.
The stairs going down to the bathrooms are painted with a nice mural.

Mousaka
Alternate layers of eggplant, potatoes, zucchini, and spiced ground beef, topped with bechamel sauce. Served with salad, roast potatoes, and rice.I wouldn't consider myself a mousaka expert, but the mousaka is similar to a shepherd's pie. There is ground beef, a couple vegetables, and it's covered with very soft and creamy mashed potatoes. The rice was very plain. The potatoes had a nice light lemon flavor, and the salad was mediocre. The food was enjoyable, but nothing fantastic.
Horiatiki
The quintessential Greek salad. Tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, green peppers, olives and Feta Dodonis, tossed simply with oregano and extra virgin olive oil. This is quite a good salad for the price. There is no lettuce in this salad, so you're getting a good amount of vegetables. The salad is served with a large piece of feta cheese. It is quite a good salad for the price. Many other places will charge significantly more, and offer less salad.
