Mediterraneo is a Mediterranean restaurant located at the east end of Waterloo in the Price Chopper plaza (at the corner of University and Bridge). They serve affordable Mediterranean food of an average quality. Unfortunately, when we visited this time, two of the menu items we wanted to order were unavailable (thus the poor rating).

Cost

Mediterraneo isn't exactly an expensive place - their prices are quite affordable for the quantity of food that you get.

Dress

Casual - shorts and a t-shirt in the summer are fine.

Parking

Ample parking is available in the outside parking lot.

Service

Inside Mediterraneo

Our waitress definitely lacked enthusiasm when one member of our group ordered Saganaki as an appetizer. Her "Opa!" was very dull, and really more like a whisper. Otherwise, there was nothing remarkable about the service.

Reservations

Reservations are probably not required. If you have a large group you may want to call ahead.

Tyropita

This was ordered since the Spanakopita meal was unavailable. (They had run out of Spanakopitas). The only difference was that it didn't have spinach in the filo pastries. The spanakopitas would have been much more enjoyable.

The Tyropita meal was served with a Greek salad (with ample feta cheese), and a pile of flavored white sticky rice. The Greek salad was mostly lettuce with two tomato slices, and a several pieces of cucumber hiding under the lettuce. The dressing was quite good and typical of a Greek salad.

Chicken Bellissimo

Chicken Bellissimo

The Chicken Bellissimo was ordered since the restaurant had run out of Moussaka ($13.95). The chicken breast was topped with roasted red peppers (some of which were burnt to a crisp), and then topped with feta cheese. The chicken itself was very good, and was a food fit with the pasta. I would have been happier if the pasta had been whole wheat, but it was still pretty good. The vegetables were quite plain - I'm guessing they were frozen veggies from a bag.
