Maison Touareg is a Moroccan and Lebanese restaurant located in Soho, London. The food we had was all OK, but this restaurant didn't quite live up to my expectations. The restaurant itself was nice and had a cozy feel & decor.

Fairly casual

Most entree items were around £13, with most appetizers around £5.

Items Ordered

Hummus & Shawarma

Chickpea puree topped with grilled meat
Cost:£4.45

The hummus was just OK, and the shawarma was made with fatty chicken. We weren't too pleased with this appetizer. It was served with pitas on the side.

Mousakaa

Baked seasoned aubergine cooked with chick peas, peppers, onions, & tomato served with rice & salad
Cost:£12.95

The mousaka was nothing like I expected, it was more like an Indian chana masala with different spices. It was a mush of chickpeas and eggplant with rice and a small salad of a few vegetables and a light dressing.

Chicken Tagine

Tagines in Moroccan cuisine are slow-cooked stews braised at low temperatures in clay pots resulting in tender meat with aromatic vegetables and sauce served with a bowl of cous cous. Chicken - cooked with mixed herbs, saffron and green olives
Cost:£12.95

The stew was strongly flavored of lemon, and it had a lot of olives in it. The chicken was still on the bone and a bit tricky to eat, but it had an interesting taste. This dish wasn't very stew like - it felt more like a soup, or a liquidy sauce to mix the couscous in.
