Lyon was a pretty standard French restaurant for NYC. It's located in a cute part of the west village. They offered a lot of the typical French menu items. The food was decent, but nothing spectacular. There are other french restaurants in NYC that I have enjoyed more. The restaurant is fairly large and although it is compartmentalized, I found it to be quite noisy when we visited.

Reservations

We were able to make reservations the day before. The restaurant was quite busy when we visited.

Items Ordered

Soup of the Day

The soup of the day was a tomato soup with croutons. It was a fairly simple soup, but it tasted really good. It wasn't too salty and had a strong tomato taste.

Steak Au Poivre

Painted Hill Farm 10oz flat iron steak, 3 peppercorn sauce, french fries
Cost:$30

The steak was pretty average, and the sauce could have been more peppery - it was more like a lightly seasoned gravy than a pepper sauce. The fries were crispy and good, but there was nothing memorable or special about them. This was a very average dish.

Chocolate Mousse

Valhrona dark chocolate mousse
Cost:$10

The chocolate mousse was very rich and chocolatey. This was a good dessert for sharing, as it was too much for one person to handle.
