Long Beach

Long Beach is an ocean beach on the southern shore of Long Island about an hour away from New York City. During the weekends in the spring and everyday in the summer the beach has many lifeguards and several swimming areas. The beach was full of people lounging and swimming (although the water was cold). The beach is kept fairly clean and has several bathrooms and washing stations. Next to the beach there is a large boardwalk that also serves as a barrier to entry to the beach. There were very few food vendors along the boardwalk.

Cost and Getting There

Entrance to the beach costs $12 per adult. You can get to the beach from NYC by taking the LIRR from Penn Station. Combination tickets for the train and beach entrance are available for $19. The train ride is about an hour long. There were also several parking lots near various beach entrances.
