Le Tires Bouchon is a restaurant in Versailles, located just a short walk from The Palace of Versailles. There were many restaurants located in this area - it had a nice dining atmosphere.

This was one of the few restaurants that had an English menu available. Both indoor and outdoors eating were available.

Dress

Fairly casual

Cost

The restaurant offered a variety of french food - mainly meats and fish. A main dish was available for 18.50€, or 25€ including a starter or dessert, or 30€ for a starter, main dish, and dessert.

Service

Our server did not speak English very well, but we heard the server at the table next to us speaking English just fine.

Items Ordered

Asparagus summer gratin

Cost:This was a starter - A Starter + Main were available for 25€

The asparagus had a very strong citrus flavor. They were topped with fried seasoned breadcrumbs. The asparagus themselves were quite stringy, but were very tasty with their flavor and fried bread crumbs.

Slow-cooked duck with parsley potatoes

Cost:This was a main dish - A Starter + Main were available for 25€ (or 18.50€ for just the main)

The duck was served on the bone. The wing was very tender and tasty, although the meat was all fairly fatty. The potatoes were really good and similar to the plain ones served with the other main dish. Like many dishes in France, it lacked any vegetable.

Pork sesame seed and almond skewers

Cost:This was a main dish - A Starter + Main were available for 25€ (or 18.50€ for just the main)

The apricots and pork were absolutely delicious. The apricots were roasted and coated in cinnamon, and had a great flavor. The pork was also delicious - it was seasoned, and may have been made from ground pork.

The artichoke didn't have much flavor. The potatoes were pretty typical potatoes that had been baked in a good amount of oil.
