Seating:Patio

Le Sud is a restaurant located right on the Rhône river, just east of the main Bellacour square. The location is quite nice, although there is a large roadway on the Rhône river that can cause some noise. The restaurant has both indoor seating, and seating on a large outdoor patio.

Although the menu was only in French, it looked good enough to try. We didn't know quite what we were ordering, but everything was very good. The food selection here was less exotic than some of the other Lyonnaise restuarants.

Reservations

We arrived around 7pm, and the restaurant was mostly empty. It filled up by the time we left (around 8pm).

Items Ordered

Gaspacho Andalou

Soupe froide de tomates et légumes frais d'été au basilic
Cost:This is an entrée. It is available with a Plat and Dessert for 21.80€.

This cold tomato soup was pretty good. It had some small chunks of cucumber, bell pepper, and croutons inside. It was like a salad with the tomato portion blended up.

Salade de Tomate et Fêta au Basilic

Huile d'olive vierge et sel de Guérande
Cost:This is an entrée. It is available with a Plat and Dessert for 21.80€.

The tomato salad was really good with a mild olive oil and a tasty basil sauce and feta cheese. The extra oil was also good with the bread that each table received.

Filet de Saumon Cuit à la Plancha

Ecrasée de pomme de terre et épinards en branches
Cost:This is a plat. It is available with an entrée and Dessert for 21.80€.

The salmon was pretty good. It had a mild sauce on it that added a bit of flavor. The top of the salmon (the bottom in the picture) was slightly crispy, which is always tasty.

The mashed potatoes sitting on a bed of spinach was also delicious. The potatoes were soft and creamy.

Gigot d'Agneau Rôti au Thym

Confit niçois et pommes de terre maison
Cost:This is a plat. It is available with an entrée and Dessert for 21.80€.

The lamb was served with a tasty sauce, possibly tomato based. There was also a small pile of cooked vegetables! We found it was difficult to find restaurants that served vegetables, so this was a nice surprise. It included zucchini, onion, and tomato. The baked potatoes were also fairly good, with a light spice.

Tiramisu Maison

crème anglaise
Cost:This is a dessert. It is available with an entrée and Dessert for 21.80€.

This Tiramisu was served on a bed of melted ice cream. That was a nice touch. It made the tiramisu even more moist and tasty. The tiramisu itself was also quite good - the ice cream just made it better.
